More than 1.5 million patients traveled to Thailand, Singapore, India, South Korea and Malaysia last year for low-cost, high quality healthcare. The medical tourism industry is expected to continue to grow at a rate of 20 to 30% per year. By 2012, medical tourism to Malaysia, Thailand, Sinagpore and India will grow from about US$1 billion to more than US$4.4 billion. China has lagged in terms of medical tourism, but as one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, there is growing interest in pursuing the medical tourism opportunity. Scott Edelstein, Partner of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. will discuss key trends in this growth industry and suggest opportunities for U.S. companies to participate in the growing medical tourism business through joint ventures and other exports. Healthcare Executives from China will also be present.
Reception Host Sponsor is George Mason University’s School of Management
